Portland, Oregon is my hometown. I grew up in what they now call the Brooklyn neighborhood. I went to a very small private school, so when I started high school, my exposure to the underground goth and drag crowds started to peak my interest in the fashion scene. I hung out at a popular club in Portland in the ‘90s and my friends and I experimented with every hair color, eyeliner color, nail polish and, yes, even mascara color.
Soon after, I started going to this really awesome hairstylist (thanks mom!). He cut off my locks, and thanks to puberty, I had all these curls that I didn’t know what to do with! But he colored me a sassy red and the ‘new’ me began to gain confidence. My stylist inspired me to go to beauty school. So, off I went…
I attended Mt. Hood Community College’s Cosmetology Program. That is where I fell in love with hair. As soon as I graduated, I pursued an apprenticeship with one of the top salons in Portland. I had witnessed their TIGI cutting, coloring and styling techniques and was instantly inspired. Over the next five years, I was fully immersed in Toni & Guy training with an amazing group of mentors.
Five years ago, I branched out to become an independent contractor. I ended up at a salon in the Pearl District where I met Patti Green. Our friendship blossomed and so did her inspiration for green. I loved the idea! Since childhood and at home, I have been practicing as much ‘green’ as possible. Why not do it at work? So, now I am a part of the ‘green. team’! green. is my new home away from home. I love this place!
I now live in the Kenton neighborhood in NoPo with my boyfriend, Dave and our family of three kitties. We practice Shaolin Kung-fu together, I ride my bike as much as possible and I love the NW! Hiking is one of my favorite activities, especially in the summertime.
