Well, you can call me Brooke or Brooklyn. I am the manager here at green. I have worked in the salon industry for over four years, and love it. I have been with green. since the beginning and wouldn't want to work anywhere else. It has been a great experience watching the salon grow since we opened in March of 2009. Though I don't do hair myself, I like being involved. I still get to witness the whole process, whether it's a big change or just maintenance.
I am a Civil Environmental Engineering student at Portland Community College, and am getting ready to transfer to Portland State University. If I don't end up being an engineer, I will be teaching Calculus in high school. I enjoy math (quite a bit). The girls here often call me nerd -- I'm okay with that. They hear all about the new things I learn at school, so I probably deserve it. Feel free to come in the salon and geek out with me.
I am a vegan, and have been since 2005. I will never go back, it's a life choice and I can't imagine any other way. I get asked a lot, so I might as well address it. I became vegan for the treatment of animals. I don't like the conditions they live in and the unnecessary torture they are subjected to. It isn't as hard as some people think; ask me about it.
I bought a motorcycle last year (sv650) and it is my new passion. There is nothing I would rather do on a sunny day than ride on some back roads into the gorge, it is an unbeatable feeling.
I've lived in the Portland metro area my whole life, but was born and raised in Vancouver. I may move away either for school or a job once I graduate, but I think I will end up back here. My heart will always belong to P-town.
